Polycarbonate
By its very nature, polycarbonate is a better choice
for glazing material than PVC. Not just because of its greater inherent
strength, but also as a result of the many other superior properties it offers.
Features and Benefits
- Improved thermal performance
Polycarbonate sheets have a ribbed
configuration and enjoy a multiwalled
construction. This ensures
thermal insulation that’s up to 28%
greater than PVC.
- Greater choice of
colour
PVC panels tend to be available
in an opaque finish only. 35mm
polycarbonate however can be
supplied in opal, bronze and ‘Solar
Control’ finishes.
- Colour consistency
Polycarbonate sheets benefit from
consistent colour unlike PVC panels
which have a tendency to discolour
over time.
- Easy to install
Polycarbonate will not crack or split
when cut, drilled or sawn.
Reduced weight
Polycarbonate is up to 33% lighter
than PVC.
- Virtually indestructible
Polycarbonate has an impact
strength 200 times greater than
glass and 10 times stronger
than PVC.
- Better heat
performance
Polycarbonate is known to remain
stable in prolonged temperatures
ranging from -40°C to 120°C.
It is also flame retardant and
self extinguishing.
- Excellent weather
resistance
A solar grade co-extruded layer
protects the polycarbonate sheets
against discolouring and surface
wear. It also deflects 98% of UV
radiation.
- Warranty
Polycarbonate is guaranteed by all
major suppliers for 10 years. This
guarantee normally applies to colour
loss, light transmission and
strength.
- Solar Control
Our exclusive Solar Control
polycarbonate performs even better
than our standard product. It
reduces heat build up in the summer
and retains the warmth in winter.
